Dance/Improv: Our dance classes are founded in Modern technique and styles, deeply influenced by holistic healing and developed using improvisational art. Join us Monday nights for a wonderful class with a community atmosphere where we each explore our lives through movement and improvisation: dance, craft a story, sing to your hearts content, jump for joy... Our instructors -- Anita Bondi and Stan Stewart -- are InterPlay certified leaders and hold numerous other certifications. Yoga for Life:Level 1 basic beginning class and for anyone who is currently recovering from injury or illness, anyone who is looking for a gentle stretching routine, or even anyone who has a practice but is interested in learning poses with a new mind. This is a class about restoring balanced health no matter what is going on in your life. We will use chairs, blankets, blocks, walls or whatever anyone needs to have a worthwhile practice. It will include ba- sic breath work, basic asana foundational techniques, relaxation techniques, and some restorative poses. Taught by Leslie Underhill. Hatha Yoga: Basic techniques of asana with emphasis on alignment principles to practice safely and correctly with ease. It will include some breath work, guided centering and meditation, and asana. Open to anyone who already has a basic knowledge of stand- ing poses and can move safely in and out of them. Postures will be held longer to build strength and there will be more vinyasa movement to increase flexibility. Taught by Leslie Underhill. Vinyasa Flow Yoga: a Vinyasa flow style class suitable for all levels with special emphasis on bandas (energy locks), pranayama (breath work), and asanas (postures). Our instructors will guide you through an invigorating and relaxing journey on your mat with a true workout for your mind, body and soul. Students will experience the healing and transformative qualities of a traditional yoga practice, learn and experience how a yoga practice can tone the body and heal the mind and body, while building a deeper awareness and self acceptance. Yoga also reduces anxiety and stress. This class will promote weight loss and healthy eating as part of our holistic approach. Louise Bowman is our certified yoga teacher. So, bring an open mind and a mat (or use one of ours)! Taekwondo: Taekwondo is a Korean martial art form. Taekwondo translates to "the art of kicking and punching". Students develop their body, mind and spirit as a result of Pilates: Imagine an exercise program that you look forward to, that engages you and that leaves you refreshed and alert with a feeling of physical and mental well-being. The Pilates Method of body conditioning will do all this and more. Developed in the 1920's by the legendary physical trainer and founder of the New York Pilates Studio, Joseph H. Pilates, The Pilates Method is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk. Not surprisingly, some of the first people to use the Pilates Method were dancers such as Martha Graham and Geroge Blanchine. The Pilates Method is not just exercise, however. It is a seried of controlled movements engaging your body and mind. Our instructor, Anita Bondi, is certified by Pilates Physicalmind Institute. Yoga and Writing: Finding your Tadasana. Gift yourself the time to explore what it means to stand on your own two feet and feel steady in your life, on and off the mat. This class consists of flow Yoga, writing and meditation. Bring a notebook and pen and a desire to spend some time with yourself. Please see our class schedule for times and days. |
